Bu kitap çok partili dönemdeki seçimlerin dördüncüsü olan 1957 seçimlerini içermektedir.  KitaptaTürkiye Büyük Millet Meclisinin 1954-1957 Dönemi (X. Yasama Dönemi) ele alınmış, 1954 seçiminin sonuçları ve X. Dönem boyunca Meclis aritmetiğinde yaşanan değişim irdelenmiş; 2 Mayıs 1954 seçimleri ile 27 Ekim 1957 seçimleri arasında kurulan ya da siyasal yaşamdan çekilen partilere ilişkin bilgiler sunulmuştur.

Seçmenlere ve oy kullanımına ilişkin bilgiler, milletvekili adayları ile seçilen milletvekillerinin kimlikleri ve TBMM’nin yenilenme oranına ilişkin bilgiler, ülke düzeyindeki seçim sonuçları ve parti oylarının iller ve bölgeler düzeyindeki dağılımı irdelenmiştir.

Siyasî tarihimize ışık tutacak önemli konuşmaların metinleri, siyasî partilerin yayımladığı bildiriler, genelgeler, adaylara ve milletvekillerine ilişkin listeler ile ayrıntılı veriler, kitabın sonundaki Ekler Bölümünde yer almaktadır.

Siyasi partilerle ilgili ayrıntılı değerlendirmeler için, Siyasî Partiler Özel Eki düzenlenmiştir. Bu bölümde DP, CHP ve CMP’ye yer verilmiştir.
